In this project we have searched the web trough two searchers: Google and Euridicautom. With the help of those searchers we have look for the information assigned: The European Monitoring Centre for Drug Addiction, the European Foundation for the Improvement of living and Working Conditions, the Employement, Social Policy, Health and Consumer affairs and the Public Register of the council of the European Union.
To do this third report we have first gone to the searcher Google. We wrote the information we want to find. When we have the results we had the possibility of translate it. But this first translator it is machine translator and as we have seen in the Report B machine translation is not still as developed as it should be to do good translations. When we entered one of the sites that appeared in the searcher we had the same information but written in Spanish. It was not a machine translation, so it was easy to understand it.
After doing this we entered the searcher Eurodicautom. This searchers shows the results and its equivalents in Spanish, and this is a very interesting point. You do not have to use machine translation becuse it is in our native language. Its weak point is that it is only a searcher of items. You have to take down the names, go to the Google searcher and enter into the site you want. It is a bit longer to do but the results that you find could be better.
First of all, I used www.google.com to find the original page of this topic, and I found it. It is: www.emcdda.org.You can have this page translated from google before entering in it, but this page also offeres you the pissibility of reading the page in the following languages:
Then I used EURODICAUTOM searcher, and I found that I had two possibilities:
After finding the title of the article, I went to google again and tried to find the Spanish page. The result was: www.europa.eu.int/eur_lex/es/com/cnc/2002/com202_059901.pdf, which was the equivalent Spanish page.
I looked for this page in Google, but it has no Equivalent Spanish page. You only can read the page in English. Dispite this fact, you can have this page translated from Google before openning it. The page was: www.europa.eu.int/comm/dgs/justice_home/index_es.htm
I tried the same page in EURODICATUM, and I found that the result was:
Then I wrote the Spanish title in google and I found the page: www.europa.eu.int/pol/justice/index_es.htm
I looked for this page in Google, and the result was: www.eurofound.ie. Despite the fact that you can translate this page using Google Translator, this page offers you the possiblity of reading the page in other language, but the problem is that you can only read it in French.
I tried then EURODICAUTOM, and the result was:
I tried this topic in Google, and I found it in the page: www.europa.eu.int/comm/employment_social/news/2002/dec/213_en.htmIf you go to the main page: www.europa.eu.intyou can read the page in:
After this, I tried this page in EURODICAUTOM and I found this page in English and in Spanish:
I tried this page in Google and I found the page: www.europa.eu.int/pol/health/index_en.htmThis page can be translated if you go to the main page: www.europa.eu.intinto:
The Spanish page was: "Actividades de la Union Europea y Salud Pública"
Then I tried it in EURODICATUM and I found the original version in English and its equivalent in Spanish:
The pages where you can read about this topic in Spanish were:
In this last project we have had the possibility of searching the web. We have found many things that are interesting and rather unknown for some of the inhabitants of the European Union. A very good point is that there is the possibility of translating it to nearly all the languages spoken in the European Union. As we had seen in the previous project the translator of the internet still have some weak points that makes difficult to understand those translation. And as our cappacity of learning many languages is limited our possibility to understand them trough the translators is also limited.
But as in this case there are some cases that the translators are not needed. It is very useful because in our case as Spanish native speakers not all of us have the same level of understanding in English. As there is a equivalent page in Spanish all the information reaches to the target properly.
